Charcoal Suits Bring Timeless Elegance

When Krista and Briana of Gavita Flora invited us to be part of their styled shoot at Bernardus Lodge, we jumped at the chance! They assembled a fantastic team and created the most beautiful atmosphere to showcase each vendor’s talents.

For this photoshoot, we chose a charcoal Ike Behar suit. The two-button style, with its notch lapels and slim fit is one of our most popular suits for weddings. Think of the gray suit as the male version of the “little black dress.” It’s classic, timeless, and always in good taste. A gray suit can work for daytime or evening events and the charcoal color reflects the formality of the wedding, but is much less formal than a traditional tuxedo. Light gray, khaki, and light blue suits are best reserved for informal summer weddings or destination weddings.

The two-button suit is simple, dignified, and one of the most universally flattering styles for men of all shapes. The handsome notch lapel draws attention to the face while creating a very desirable v-shape. After all, shouldn’t the most important day of your life also be your best dressed day?

A good suit should hug your shoulders, not slouch off them, and this slim-fit suit does just that. When you put on the jacket, there is a firmness to it. A slim-fit isn’t just for slim guys either. It can flatter many different body types… It’s all in the fit! Remember, you’re not donning a skin-tight superhero costume. Slim fit just means that the suit fits slightly closer to the body and results in long, clean lines, which can have a slimming effect on the wearer. The flat-front pants are a perfect compliment to this look. Anything else would look out of place.

We chose to pair a solid white dress shirt and a pale gray tie with our charcoal gray suit. This combination complimented the color scheme of the photoshoot and is neutral enough to work in a variety of settings. On your wedding day, be sure your shirt is clean and pressed. Your shirt collar will be visible in every picture from your wedding day so pay special attention to it! Make sure it fits properly (no gap!) and is clean and crisp. If you choose to wear a slim fit suit, a slim fit shirt is a must. You will probably sweat a little (or a lot) on your wedding day, so don’t underestimate the need for an undershirt. If you’re a heavy sweater or getting married in a tropical climate, consider packing a backup shirt. No one wants to see sweat stains in their wedding pictures! In the end, your wedding attire should compliment, not compete, with your bride. Her attire will no doubt top yours in its opulence and that’s okay, even expected.

Planning a wedding can seem like an exhaustive exercise in decision-making. Dressing for your wedding doesn’t have to be difficult though. A simple, classic outfit is the best way to make your wedding day stand out in your memory for all the right reasons. Our experienced staff can help you weigh your options and choose the right style for you.
